Cutting fibre cement with the wrong blade is a frustrating job. The Profi Diamond Blade is built specifically for the job, with polycrystalline diamond (PCD) teeth that slice cleanly through Cedral Weatherboard and other fibre cement products.

Fits the Saw You Already Own

Profi Diamond Blades work with handheld circular saws, mitre saws and chop saws, so most DIYers can fit one to the tools already in the shed or garage. Four sizes are available: 165 mm, 190 mm, 216 mm, and 235 mm. Check the arbor on your saw before ordering, as the 165mm blade has a 20mm bore while the larger three all have a 30mm bore. What is Profi Diamond Blade?

PCD teeth are considerably harder than the tungsten carbide tips found on a standard blade. That hardness is what allows the blade to keep its edge through board after board of abrasive fibre cement, rather than dulling after a handful of cuts. A Profi Diamond Blade can last up to 50 times longer than an equivalent TCT blade, cut up to three times faster, and produce noticeably less dust while it works. On more fragile board surfaces, it also gives a cleaner cut, which matters on visible edges and around window reveals where a rough finish would be obvious.

For anyone cladding a whole house, an extension, or a garden room, one diamond blade will typically see the entire project through. That saves both money and the interruption of stopping to swap blades mid-job.

Profi Diamond Blade FAQs

What is a PCD blade?

PCD stands for polycrystalline diamond. The teeth are tipped with a synthetic diamond material that is far harder than the tungsten carbide used on standard blades. That hardness is why it stands up to abrasive materials like fibre cement.

Will it fit my saw?

Check two things: the blade diameter your saw takes, and the arbor size. The 165mm blade has a 20mm bore. The 190mm, 216 mm, and 235mm blades all have a 30mm bore. Both figures are usually marked on your current blade.

Can I use it on materials other than fibre cement?

These blades are made for fibre cement board, and that is where they perform best. Using them on timber, metal, or masonry will not give you good results and will shorten the life of the blade.

How much longer does it really last?

Up to 50 times longer than a comparable TCT blade. In practice, most DIY cladding projects can be completed on a single diamond blade.

Does it actually reduce dust?

Yes, noticeably. The cutting action produces significantly less dust than a TCT blade. You should still cut outdoors where possible and wear appropriate respiratory protection, as fibre cement dust contains silica.

How many teeth does it have?

Either 4 or 6, depending on the blade size. Fewer teeth is deliberate on a diamond blade for fibre cement, as it helps clear material and keeps the cut clean.

Can I use it on a mitre saw?

Yes. These blades work on handheld circular saws, mitre saws, and chop saws, as long as the diameter and bore match your machine.
